“Footwear silhouettes reminiscent of the early 2000s are key right now,” says Monique Rivera, vice president of design at Dolce Vita. “The thong sandal is absolutely a favored silhouette for spring and summer 2026, and toe-ring sandals are part of that look. What’s most distinctive this season is that the toe-loop sandals we’re loving feature a bit of ornamentation at the toe.”

The trend’s latest evolution was also evident on the spring 2026 runways, where designers embraced toe-ring sandals in more statement-making forms. Jean Paul Gaultier showcased chunky heeled versions that doubled as standout accessories, while Celine and Calvin Klein opted for strappier designs accented with fringe leather and geometric bauble details that elevated the silhouette beyond its minimalist roots.

That shift toward added height and embellishment is precisely what makes the trend feel fresh this season. “The key silhouettes are toe-ring sandals on a kitten heel, micro wedge, or small block heel,” Rivera says. “Anything with a little lift feels especially fresh this season.”
Celebrities are helping propel the trend, too. Selena Gomez recently stepped out in a polished wedge pair styled with flared jeans and a ruffled top, while Jennifer Lawrence took a more understated approach, pairing minimalist flat toe-ring sandals with a black leather jacket, lace-trimmed slip skirt, and baseball cap for an effortlessly cool street-style look.
What began as a niche sandal trend has evolved into one of the season’s defining footwear statements. And if the runways, celebrity endorsements, and growing retail presence are any indication, toe-ring sandals are poised to become this summer’s latest must-have — whether you’re fully on board or still slightly freaked out by them.
