Fight us on this, but Keke Palmer is one of the most booked-and-busy people in Hollywood at the moment. You know it’s your gurl! Not only does Palmer have a successful podcast—Baby, This Is Keke Palmer—and several upcoming films in the works—we personally can’t wait for One of Them Days 2 with SZA—but somehow, Palmer also manages to find the time to host a whole game show in between it all.
This week, season three of her hit NBC game show Password returns, in which Palmer helps guide two teams as they attempt to convey mystery words to each other (using only single-word clues, of course). Palmer says it’s always been a dream of hers to host a game show. “I’m definitely the kind of person that likes to host—I’m a hostess with the mostest type of gal,” says Palmer of the recurring gig. “I love taking people through the game, and making them feel at home and comfortable.”
A specific element of the show worth tuning in for this season? Palmer’s epic game show host wardrobe, of course. This season, the star is leaning into delightful maximalism, finding looks that are retro, glam, and very much over-the-top. (Fun is a keyword of game shows, after all.) “I’ve created this character as a host that’s a lot of fun to play with,” says Palmer of creating her outfits. “It’s very campy, and has a classic 1950s-1960s style—a very old school, Vaudeville vibe, which I love.”
In season three’s upcoming episodes, you can expect to see Palmer in a wide range of designs that fit the bill, ranging from Sergio Hudson designs to vintage Dolce & Gabbana or Chanel. “Working with Sergio Hudson was a lot of fun, because he has an incredible collection,” says Palmer. While the range of labels (and eras) of the clothes is wide, Palmer says she gravitated towards pieces that instantly spark joy. “We were thinking Austin Powers. More color, more patterns—more everything,” she says. “I was very much just having fun with it.”
