Rihanna is a known fashion maximalist: embracing the trending 2016 fashions, denim-on-denim-on-denim, animal print XL. But even Rih knows that, sometimes, the most simple can be the most chic. And so, the pop star and beauty mogul did monochromatic dressing: her way of course.
Out last night to support her partner A$AP Rocky—who was being honored with the inaugural Tribeca X Filmmaker of the Year Award—Rihanna opted for head-to-toe yellow-gold.
She was photographed exiting the Spring Studios-set festival in New York wearing a clingy velvety dress and matching buttery leather, longline jacket. She paired the ensemble with coordinating strappy bronze heels. For accessories, layers of gold and diamond necklaces, bracelets, and a stack of rings, as well as oversized black sunglasses.
She wore her hair in undulating curls, and sported a nude-plum lipstick. It looks like Rihanna has decided on her summer mani-pedi, too, wearing a gleaming white polish on both fingers and toes.

While monochrome dressing can feel very much in the vein of the quiet luxury girls (from Kendall Jenner to Victoria Beckham), Rihanna proves it’s anything but middle-of-the-road. In Paris with Rocky, the couple went monochrome and Matrix mode in head-to-toe leathers. And more often than not, you’ll find Rih in all the animal prints; most recently, she made the case for the return of the much maligned tiger print in a full jungle ensemble.
