Alexandra O’Neill is one of those designers who knows her customer so well because she’s one herself. After all, she’s one of her brand’s best and biggest ambassadors, often spotted working the society circuit donning something from her own collection. Her resort outing was inspired by her recent honeymoon in Jackson Hole—in fact, she had returned from it mere hours before hosting her appointments. “I was inspired by this Western aesthetic. I kind of went back to my roots in Colorado, but wanted to give it a bit more of an elevated touch,” she explained. The result includes fun and flirty fringe mini dresses that festive party girls could easily pair with cowboy boots, while wildflower embroidery adds a more delicate Western touch to simple slip dresses and skirts.
The collection’s highlights are some of its simplest. Think a rouge taffeta skirt set that includes a ruffled halter top with a dip waist bottom. The hue was made to mimic the sunsets out West that change as the sun dips below the mountain ranges. A simple white fringed dress with a tassel belt combined texture play and a touch of whimsy. And for the longtime customers who like her more traditional prints, O’Neill even incorporated some more Western-inspired Rococo textiles and motifs into her designs.
