‘Toy Story 5’ Characters Come to Life With Clove Sneaker Collaboration

While Taylor Swift was cooking up a new country hit for “Toy Story 5,” health care-focused brand Clove was working with Disney and Pixar on a footwear collaboration to bring the franchise’s beloved characters to life in a new light.

For Clove’s first licensed partnership with Disney and Pixar, the collection includes four styles with designs inspired by character iconography. Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jessie and the Aliens from the “Toy Story” universe all get their own colorway and design, with details drawn straight from the source material. Meanwhile, matching compressions socks designed for 12-hour shifts complete the collection.

Jordyn Amoroso, cofounder and chief brand officer, said, “We approached these shoes the same way sneaker brands approach iconic drops: through storytelling, emotional connection and collectible design. The result feels equally at home in a hospital hallway or on a sneaker shelf.”

The Clove x Toy Story 5 collection launches June 17 at goclove.com and select retailers; an early access sign-up page can be found on Clove’s website.

Cofounder and chief operating officer Paula Belatti said, “We never compromised performance for creativity. These are still the same workhorse products our community relies on. They just happen to carry the energy and excitement of a true sneaker collaboration.”

Clove has made collaborations a key focus for the brand, previously dropping a fruit-themed sock collaboration with beverage brand Olipop and a butter yellow sneaker in partnership with Land O’Lakes, for example.

Founder and CEO Joe Ammon said in a statement, “Health care workers have spent years being an afterthought in product design and culture. Over a million of them trusted us with their feet and the least we can do is show up for them the way the best sneaker collabs show up for their communities.”

A slew of “Toy Story 5” collaborations have been revealed recently ahead of the film’s June 19 release, with another example being an Adidas sneaker collection inspired by Buzz Lightyear.
