Marcus admits he was conflicted over what he wanted to wear on his wedding day. “I kept going back and forth between a baggier, more hip silhouette, or a classic suit,” says the groom. “I ended up going with a classic wool suit from J. Mueser, but went with chocolate brown for the color.” He adds, “I thought that way I was doing something a little different, but could still feel like James Bond.” He accessorized with a Givenchy derby shoes—“I just love a clean black dress shoe”—and an Oyster Steel Rolex from his friend Devin. “It takes a village,” Marcus says. “Speaking of the village, I gotta shout out my barber Stacey Kutz and makeup artist Amber for making me look pristine.”
The couple’s wedding party all chose looks they loved for their attire without an assigned palette. Funny enough, all the groomsmen ended up in the same color. “It was completely unplanned but we all ended up matching in brown suits,” says Marcus. Even the ring bearers coordinated in the shade.
The couple opted out of hosting a rehearsal dinner. Instead, they spent the night together at the Chateau Marmont to prepare for the big day ahead. “Having our alone time to look back on the last eight years—how much we’ve grown together and as individuals and what more is on the horizon as we were about to leap into our newest chapter—was so special,” says Gracie. “Sharing vows in bed was my favorite, most intimate part of the weekend.”
The bride and groom loved beginning their wedding day with a ketubah signing. “It was so special to have all of our immediate family and best friends in one spot before the craziness began,” says Gracie. Guests then all gathered at République for the ceremony, which was conducted by Rabbi Jaclyn Cohen as a nod to Gracie’s heritage. The groom walked out to a violin playing “From the Start” by Laufey and greeted his guests down the aisle. When Gracie went down the aisle to “Video Games” by Lana Del Rey, Marcus says, “The world stopped. My heart was in my throat. While my entrance was chaotic, it felt like she soothed the room.” Gracie remembers, “Because we were all experiencing the ceremony for the first time, I got a little excited at one point that felt climactic, and went in for a premature kiss. I caught myself.” Says Marcus, “Everyone says not to put so much pressure on the day being perfect, but it truly was the best day of my life.”
After saying “I do,” the newlyweds ran upstairs together to soak up the excitement, drink a glass of wine, and take some photos. “It was the first time it got to be just us. We were geeking,” says Marcus. “Probably my favorite part of the night was those transition periods.” Meanwhile, cocktail hour began, and guests mixed and mingled. “I was told there were amazing passed apps and art from the artist who did our invite, Pholks and Phaces,” shares the groom. Specialty cocktails were also served. “The snap pea was basically a spiked green juice,” says the bride. “How very LA of us.”
