Salomon Reunites With The Broken Arm to Introduce New Savat Sneaker

Salomon and Parisian boutique The Broken Arm have reunited to introduce a new collaborative footwear silhouette.

Called Savát, the shoe is inspired by traditional handmade footwear interpreted through a contemporary lens, combining Salomon’s performance heritage with The Broken Arm’s refined aesthetics, the French mountain sports brand said.

Crafted from a single piece of leather, Savát leaves its construction visible rather than concealed with exposed seams, clean lines, artisanal embroidery, and a tongueless lacing system emphasize the silhouette’s pared-back character while highlighting the precision behind its design.

Grounding the shoe is a sole unit inspired by Salomon’s S/Lab Cross 2, featuring a contrasting speckled outsole finish that makes each pair subtly unique.

The new Salomon x The Broken Arm Savàt will launch in two colorways, Cosmic Sky and Black Olive, on June 16 globally through Salomon.com and select retailers worldwide.

This latest partnership between the two companies comes after Guillaume Meyzenq, president and chief executive officer of Salomon, credited The Broken Arm for some of the brand’s success among the fashion crowd.

“Around the time [of the pandemic], we started to be connected with people [and companies] who are shaping the future of sports and fashion like [German menswear designer] Boris Bidjan Saberi and [Parisian retailer] The Broken Arm, which is still a retailer of ours,” Meyzenq told FN in an interview last month. “These partners allow us to tap into the culture and build a new community around Salomon that can help us tell a different story.”

But for the nearly 80-year-old French mountain sports brand, there was no grand plan to cater to the street-style crowd.

“We are not a fashion brand,” Meyzenq said at the time. “And we wouldn’t know how to make it just solely as a fashion brand, either. But what we’re good at is anticipating what could be the next essential for the consumer. We’ve also realized it’s OK if we want to make people dream and get inspired.”
