Russian Strikes Destroy Puma and Intertop Warehouses Near Kyiv

Russian ballistic missile strikes on Kyiv Wednesday night destroyed logistics facilities belonging to sportswear company Puma and Intertop, a prominent retailer that sells clothing and shoes from brands including Armani Exchange, Skechers, Timberland and The North Face, in the neighboring village of Chaika.

“In a matter of minutes, one of the company’s key logistics facilities, which had been operating continuously since 2009, was destroyed,” Intertop said of its warehouse in the Denka Logistics Class A complex. “Tens of thousands of orders were dispatched daily from here to customers across Ukraine.”

None of Intertop’s employees were injured in the attack, which lasted two hours and killed 17 people and wounded dozens in Kyiv and the surrounding region. Intertop said it had nevertheless lost a “significant portion” of its inventory, logistics infrastructure and equipment, adding that delivery times may be “slightly longer” for some orders and that it would fully refund any orders it could not fulfill.

Puma, whose warehouse in the Denka Logistics hub was also obliterated in the barrage, similarly said that “in the coming weeks and, likely, months, there may be a shortage of certain Puma products in Ukraine,” but that it’s working on restoring supplies. None of the company’s employees were injured, it added.

The destruction of the Denka Logistics hub follows Ukraine’s launch of a campaign of drone strikes on Wildberries logistics warehouses and depots across multiple Russian regions on July 18, after accusing the company—Russia’s version of Amazon—of supplying the Russian military with drone parts and other equipment. The strikes destroyed roughly 15-16 percent of the company’s storage facilities, with damage estimates reaching up to $3.5 billion.

Commanders from Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces reported that 13 of 15 major warehouses targeted over the past three weeks have been entirely destroyed by fire. In the last 48 hours, Ukrainian forces have sent fresh waves of long-range drones deeper into Russian territory to further dismantle the e-commerce giant’s distribution network.
