Nike Air Max 90 ‘Shadow Brown’ Release Date IR1953-200

Now that Nike’s Air Max 90 sneaker has been released in a variety of summer-appropriate styles, it’s time to look ahead to cooler months with an upcoming style that’s perfectly suited for the fall.

The new Nike Air Max 90 in Shadow Brown/Buff/Gum Light Brown appears tailor made for autumnal vibes with its drab, earthy palette of browns. And beyond the color treatment, the sneaker also plays with premium materials and textures in a fashion that’s atypical for the 1990 retro shoe.

The style’s upper is constructed with a faded tumbled leather in a dark, nearly gray brown shade, while the model’s molded TPU components at the heel, eyelets and Air Max badge lean toward a lighter hue of brown. 

This is all complimented with a full gum rubber outsole and midsole — a detail which is a fan favorite in any season. White contrast stitching is seen throughout, while one of the most unique details is the shoe’s thick, waffle-like liner material.

Originally released in ’90 and designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Max 90 is perhaps best known not for its tech, but for its color. The sneaker’s iconic Infrared style played a part in ushering in an era of bright fluorescents and neon colors to Nike’s early ‘90s sportswear output. 

These days, the Air Max 90 doesn’t receive quite the same level of buzz as its Air Max 95 counterpart, but it’s one of Nike’s most important — and popular — sneakers nonetheless. Recent release highlights have included a gemstone-adorned collaboration with artist Victor Solomon, a Safari Pack style that’s exclusive to Japan and a multi-textured white leather makeup.

The Nike Air Max 90 Shadow Brown featured here is expected to be released stateside from nike.com and select Nike Sportswear retailers soon. It’s currently advertised for a July 31 launch in select global regions and the style code for the sneaker is IR1953-200.
