Nike Air Max 90 ‘Scorpion’ Release Date IV5974-001

In recent years, the Air Max 90 has been one of the less-celebrated models in Nike’s pantheon of Air Max models and yet, the retro sneaker is never too far from the spotlight. While it may not receive the litany of new styles and collaborations seen on shoes like the Air Max 95 or even the Air Max 1, the Air Max 90 remains a fan-favorite staple nearly 40 years after its retail debut. And soon, the sneaker will receive a fresh chrome look for summer.

On the heels of a white croc and chrome Air Max 90 look, the 1990 runner has now undergone a “Scorpion” makeover which will be released alongside other popular Air Max models. And while the sneaker’s specific inspiration has not been confirmed, a detailed look at the sneaker shows readers what to expect when the style arrives later this season.

The upcoming Nike Air Max 90 Scorpion dons a gray mesh base with metallic silver and chrome overlays. The silver shade covers the shoe’s panels, while black fills in the liner, midsole and branding. A red graphic-printed insole breaks up the otherwise muted look, while the shoe’s theme is made apparent through a scorpion graphic on the chromed-out heel badge.

Nike’s soon-to-be-released Scorpion pack will also include an Air Max 95 Big Bubble and the Air Max Plus VII, both of which features matching red insoles and scorpion graphics yet use bolder Gamma Blue coloring that’s not seen on the Air Max 90. And aside from Air Max, the pack will also include the soccer cleat-turned-lifestyle shoe Total 90. It’s possible that other styles will also be included in the scorpion-themed collection.

As of publishing, an exact release date for the Nike Air Max 90 Scorpion has not yet been confirmed, but the pair is set to arrive this summer with availability from nike.com and select Nike Sportswear retailers. The style code for the upcoming release is IV5974-001.
