LONDON — There will be many high-stakes returns at the spring 2027 edition of London Fashion Week this September as the British Fashion Council on Monday unveiled the provisional schedule for the five-day fashion showcase slated for Sept. 17 to 21.

Alexander McQueen is back on home turf from Paris, with Seán McGirr’s London debut presenting coed men’s and women’s spring 2027 collections on Sept. 20.

The brand’s newly appointed chief executive officer Gianfranco D’Attis told WWD earlier that “bringing McQueen back to London Fashion Week is a meaningful moment for the house. London is where our story began and remains central to our identity.”

McGirr noted that “London has always been at the heart of McQueen; there’s a uniquely visceral energy to the city that runs throughout the house’s history and continues to inspire everything we do today. Returning to London Fashion Week allows us to deeply engage with that spirit and the creative community that defines both London and this house.”

On the same day, Mulberry will also rejoin the official schedule and present its first runway collection in six years, designed by Christopher Kane, who was named creative director of the brand’s new women’s ready-to-wear line earlier this year.

Mulberry CEO Andrea Baldo has said that joining the calendar was a further step in the house’s Back to the Mulberry Spirit strategy, which focuses on creativity, craft and rebuilding momentum after the pandemic-era retrenchment.

“London has long been a global platform for creativity and culture, making it the ideal stage to debut the Mulberry by Christopher Kane collection,” he said, adding that the show underlines Mulberry’s “absolute commitment in supporting and championing British talents, creativity and craftsmanship.”

Regarding his return to LFW, Kane said: “I am so grateful to the BFC and the fashion community for their support since the announcement. It’s an exciting time, and I look forward to sharing spring 2027 with everyone.”

The two British luxury players join a slew of established names including Burberry, Emilia Wickstead, Erdem, Harris Reed, Roksanda and Simone Rocha, anchoring a calendar that BFC CEO Laura Weir believes “reflects the confidence and momentum of British fashion today,” and reaffirms London’s position as the global home of creativity and a catalyst for innovation, opportunity and growth.

On the emerging talent front, Aaron Esh, Ashley Williams, Chopova Lowena, Knwls and Paolo Carzana return, while the BFC Newgen scheme brings runway debuts from Francesca Lake, Gui Rosa and Petra Fagerström. They will show alongside returning recipients including Charlie Constantinou, E.W.Usie, Liza Keane, Octi, Oscar Ouyang, Pauline Dujancourt, The Ouze and Yaku.

New names on the calendar also include British menswear label Geordie Campbell, Chinese designer Joyce Bao, Indian label Lovebirds and demi-couture brand Onalaja.

Activations to look forward to this fall include a Marks & Spencer centenary see now, buy now collection for women and men, presented via a runway show, a jewelry showcase at Dover Street Market, an LFW in-store edit at Selfridges, and a pre-loved-focused runway show by eBay.

H&M will also return to London Fashion Week in September, working with the photographer Nick Knight and ShowStudio to present a “bold reconceptualization” of the fashion show experience.

The brand showed on the London runway last September, blending a catwalk showcase with music, performance, style and audience participation, but this year’s show, on Sept. 17, promises to be altogether different.

Knight said they will be “exploring fresh ways of showing and democratizing fashion, and asking questions of what a runway show can be.”
