Carolina Herrera’s Wes Gordon told WWD he wanted his resort 2027 collection to zoom in on Georgia O’Keeffe — both her paintings and the desert landscape of her New Mexico home, Sol y Sombra — after celebrating a range of women in the arts at his fall show during February’s New York Fashion Week.
“What I loved about the fall show was that she really felt like she could walk off the runway onto the sidewalks of New York, so really continuing that spirit and making each piece something special,” Gordon continued.
Enter the ultimate city-striding pant: a debut pair of blue denim jeans. But in Herrera fashion, the straight leg, streamlined deep blue jeans were paired with a striking cropped lady jacket covered in micro blue and purple floral embroideries.

There were two new seasonal prints inspired by his muse — a painterly floral and another of desert blooms — that were splashed onto feminine dresses, like a tented halterneck gown, and elevated daywear, such as a great silk gazar camp shirt, tied at the waist with a matching silk scarf, and worn with a lightweight, printed mesh knit pencil skirt.
“Pieces like this I think are really something only we do — using the skill of our atelier and the glamour of our 45 years of doing evening,” Gordon continued of developing sequin-covered knit dresses and elevating sheer frocks with the micro embroideries.
The range spoke to the collection’s overall bridge between dressy occasionwear and elevated, special pieces for the everyday including textural, fringed tweed sets; pretty silk pointelle knits, and cute new cropped, tie-front cotton shirts that looked equally cool styled with the brand’s first blue jeans or a black and white voluminous skirt. For those special occasions, Gordon also showcased beautiful red, yellow and blue peek-a-boo cutout gowns that played off of his custom sheer black silk chiffon gown for model Vittoria Ceretti for the 2026 Met Gala.
Color has always played a key role at the brand, and in resort this came through optimistic hues — banana yellow, melon, claret, ultramarine, wisteria purple, geranium pink, etc. — pulled from O’Keeffe’s floral artworks.
Many of Gordon’s previous gowns have evoked this vibrancy through colorblocking, but here (outside of a frothy tulle strapless style), he evolved his approach by peppering in vibrant hues from head to toe.

“We’re making it very user friendly,” Gordon said, pointing out a widened assortment of textural accessories, which he said are elements of self-expression, including great new handbags, lightweight sculptural resin flower jewelry and candy-colored pumps.
“We’re opening a lot of stores,” he added, noting a Miami location is on the docket. “It’s really fun for me to think of these different stores now, and the world of [Herrera] — there’s different regions and different women, so having all these categories now is important.”
Gordon explained that what he enjoyed about the new Herrera handbag assortment was the modern styles’ abilities to blur the line between day and evening. His sculptural evening bags nicely contrasted the range of softer macramé totes (in sizes ranging from iPhone-sized to a true small tote) in waxed cord with ultra-long fringes and larger raffia-esq styles made from singular pieces of cord that brought forth Herrera’s Spanish touch.
