A Ma Maniere Brings Subtle Revisions to the All-white Air Force 1

Whether you call it “White on White” or “Triple White,” the colorless version of the Nike Air Force 1 Low is undisputed as the sneaker’s most essential. Recognizing its significance, A Ma Maniére is taking a slight-handed approach for its own version of the iconic shoe.

The A Ma Maniére x Nike Air Force 1 Low “White on White” features one change that immediately stands out amid a wider series of subtle revisions. A translucent rubber outsoles draws immediate contrast from the rest of the sneaker, while trim has been added to each of the upper’s leather panels, including the Swoosh.

AMM’s name takes over the “Air” placement on the midsole’s lateral side, and embossing is used for a dual-branded tongue tag and “A” logo mustache. The latter mark then makes additional appearances through laser-etching on the lace dubrae and a padded jacquard lining pattern used on several other collaborations from the boutique.

Waxing poetic on its source material, A Ma Maniére said in a press release: “Few sneakers carry the cultural history of the white-on-white Air Force 1. From neighborhood courts and city sidewalks to moments of celebration and self-expression, the silhouette has remained a constant. It does not follow trends. Instead, each generation continues to make it its own.”

Leaks from earlier this year also indicate AMM has a series of AF1 Lows with similar details in primary colors coming this summer.

Nike didn’t actually release an all-white Air Force 1 Low until some time in the mid-’90s, roughly a decade after the low-top sneaker first hit stores. And because of their immediate popularity in Harlem, where hustlers would often ditch a pair upon any sign of wear, the shoes are often referred to as “Uptowns” as well.

The A Ma Maniére x Nike Air Force 1 Low “White on White” will release Friday through A Ma Maniére’s website and stores. Pricing is set at $150.
