THE WHAT? Walmart has agreed to acquire connected TV advertising platform Vibe.co in a deal valued at approximately US$1.4 billion, strengthening its retail media and advertising capabilities.
THE DETAILS The acquisition is Walmart’s largest since its purchase of Vizio in 2024 and is designed to expand its connected TV advertising offering. Vibe.co specialises in helping small and medium-sized businesses launch and manage advertising campaigns across connected TV platforms. Following the acquisition, Vibe.co’s leadership team, including Chief Executive Officer Arthur Querou and Chief Technology Officer Franck Tetzlaff, will join Walmart’s advertising business to support the integration and continued development of the platform. Walmart said the technology will enable advertisers to more easily launch connected TV campaigns and better measure campaign performance.
THE WHY? The acquisition supports Walmart’s strategy to grow its retail media business and compete more effectively with Amazon in digital advertising. For beauty and personal care brands, the expanded platform could provide additional opportunities to reach consumers through measurable connected TV campaigns linked to Walmart’s retail ecosystem.
