THE WHAT? Unilever has agreed to sell Dutch baby and personal care brand Zwitsal to Royal Sanders for an undisclosed sum as it continues to concentrate investment behind brands with broader international reach.
THE DETAILS Royal Sanders, the Dutch personal care manufacturer behind brands including Odorex and Melkmeisje, will acquire Zwitsal from Unilever, although financial terms have not been disclosed. Zwitsal is a long-established name in the Netherlands, with a portfolio centred on baby and family care products. The disposal follows a series of portfolio changes at Unilever, including the sale of other predominantly Dutch brands, as the consumer goods group prioritises larger global businesses.
THE WHY? The sale reflects Unilever’s strategy of simplifying its portfolio and directing resources towards global brands with greater potential for international scale, while giving Zwitsal a new owner focused on personal care manufacturing and brands.
