THE WHAT? KKR has agreed to acquire Japanese beauty and lifestyle brand platform Ci FLAVORS from existing shareholders including founder Yusaku Horiuchi and consumer-focused investment firm L Catterton.
THE DETAILS Founded in 2011, Ci FLAVORS operates a portfolio spanning hair care, skin care, body care and lifestyle, including &honey, 8 THE THALASSO, unlabel, THERATIS and MOROCCAN BEAUTY, alongside OEM manufacturing, D2C, e-commerce and retail operations. The company has established a strong position in Japan’s hair care market and is growing internationally across Asia and North America; founder Yusaku Horiuchi and CEO Yoshiaki Okura will reinvest alongside KKR, while financial terms were not disclosed.
THE WHY? KKR plans to use its global consumer network, operational expertise and investment capabilities to accelerate Ci FLAVORS’ international and category expansion, strengthen its organisation and pursue strategic M&A, building on the platform’s established position in Japanese beauty.
