KidSuper Designs World Cup Cleat for Christian Pulisic and Fair Harbor Teams with Athletic Brewing

KidSuper Kicks Off World Cup Festivities

Colm Dillane’s love of soccer is well established at this point. The founder and designer of KidSuper played professionally for one year between high school and college and even built a field on top of his Brooklyn headquarters.

So even though design may be his primary focus right now, he still hasn’t lost his love for the game. In fact, he’s just back from Miami, where he teamed with J Balvin to manage the Super Ninos team at the Baller League tournament in Miami — and their team won.

Now back home, he’s still basking in the glow of the win and preparing for the upcoming FIFA World Cup that kicks off next month in North America. To celebrate, Dillane worked with Puma and one of its star ambassadors, Christian Pulisic of AC Milan. “I got to design his cleats for the World Cup,” Dillane said. “He’s possibly the most famous American athlete and he’s the captain of the U.S. national team.”

The collaboration came about as a result of Dillane’s long-standing relationship with Puma. “When I started working with Puma, they didn’t realize how true a fan I was,” he said, adding that he asked the company for years to design soccer gear.

Eventually that happened, with Dillane designing a cleat for Hector Bellerin in 2020, followed by kits and lifestyle apparel for eight teams in last year’s World Cup.

Now he’s worked with Puma and Pulisic — nicknamed Captain America — to create a new Ultra boot for the athlete that sports the KidSuper signature graphic style. It features a white base with blue stars, Pulisic’s “I Believe” mantra woven into the collar, and his parents’ football numbers embedded within the sole.

“I wanted this boot to reflect who I am, where I come from, what I believe in, and what drives me every time I step onto the pitch,” Pulisic said. “Working with KidSuper and Puma to bring this to life has been an incredible experience. I hope when people see these boots, they feel the same energy I feel when I wear them in the biggest stage in June.”

Dillane said creating the cleat was “not that easy, it was a design challenge,” but he’s happy with the end result.

So happy in fact that he’s hosting a send-off party for Pulisic on Memorial Day at KidSuper Studios in Brooklyn that will include a live New York City Footy tournament.

“He was great,” Dillane said of Pulisic. Although the athlete initially thought of KidSuper as strictly a designer, when he realized how accomplished and knowledgeable Dillane was about the sport, they bonded.

“Now I just want him to see me play,” Dillane said. “When I met him I was on crutches. But if he scores in the World Cup with the cleats I designed, that will be really cool.”

Fair Harbor’s New Teammate: Athletic Brewing

Fair Harbor has linked with Athletic Brewing Company, the country’s largest dedicated non-alcoholic brewer, on a limited-edition capsule for summer.

Called “Brewed for Adventure, Built for the Beach,” the line includes a Bayberry Brew & Bay swim trunk; Saltaire Salty Suds or Run Wild graphic T-shirts, and a Salty Suds Dad hat.

The shorts feature Fair Harbor’s BreezeKnit liner and are made from quick-dry, four-way stretch fabric that can be worn in and out of the water, while the T-shirts have a vintage wash and sun-faded finish. The cap is cotton and has embroidered detailing.
