THE WHAT? South Korean cosmetics group APR Corporation reported a 100.3 percent increase in third-quarter revenue to KRW773.1 billion, driven by international expansion and strong growth across its cosmetics division.
THE DETAILS Operating profit increased 68.9 percent to KRW160.6 billion, while net profit rose 47.6 percent to KRW110.2 billion. However, operating margin declined from 24.6 percent to 20.8 percent, with the company attributing much of the pressure to foreign exchange movements. Cosmetics revenue increased 150.6 percent to KRW682.3 billion, accounting for 88.3 percent of total sales, while beauty device revenue declined 17.9 percent. Overseas revenue grew 135 percent to KRW722.9 billion, representing 94 percent of total sales. North America accounted for 46 percent of revenue, while Europe’s share increased from 5 percent to 23 percent.
THE WHY? The results highlight the growing importance of international markets in driving South Korean cosmetics industry growth, particularly across North America and Europe. APR’s performance demonstrates how regional distribution and product portfolio expansion are supporting revenue growth, although foreign exchange volatility is creating additional pressure on profitability as overseas sales become an increasingly significant part of the business.
