THE WHAT? Henkel has appointed Christoph Kaul as CEO of Olaplex, succeeding Amanda Baldwin following the German consumer goods group’s US$1.4 billion acquisition of the prestige hair care brand earlier this year.
THE DETAILS Kaul has spent more than 13 years at Henkel and most recently served as Regional Head of Strategy and Transformation for its professional salon business in the US. He previously spent four years as General Manager of Kenra Professional and held sales and marketing roles at L’Oréal before joining Henkel. Baldwin, who has led Olaplex since 2023, oversaw investment in the professional channel, the reformulation of its Number 3 treatment and expansion of the product portfolio before steering the company through its acquisition by Henkel.
THE WHY? The appointment places an experienced Henkel professional hair care executive at the helm of Olaplex as the group begins integrating and developing the newly acquired brand, while maintaining its focus on the professional salon channel and product innovation.
