Descalco is making a splash even before it launches.
The upcoming men’s swimwear brand was spotted on “Heated Rivalry” star Hudson Williams before it officially hits the market.
The actor was recently spotted in Seoul wearing an unreleased pair of white Bermuda swim shorts by Descalco, a new label founded by Lucas Di Matteo that is set to launch on Aug. 19.
Styled by Anastasia Walker, Williams wore the brand’s Classic Bermuda, one of three swim short silhouettes that will debut as part of Descalco’s inaugural collection.
Di Matteo is best known as the founder of Paris concept store VOS (Vision of Style), and is now turning his attention to building a lifestyle brand inspired by travel and classic resort dressing.
Named after the Portuguese word for “barefoot,” Descalco will launch with The Signature, The Classic and The Classic Bermuda, each offered in six colorways. The shorts are designed to transition from the beach to everyday wear, combining tailored silhouettes with technical details including mesh briefs, adjustable waistbands and functional pockets.
The launch draws inspiration from the classic resort culture of the 1950s and ’60s, with the era’s beach clubs and seaside hotels to establish the house codes. Stripes serve as the defining motif, reinterpreted in contemporary proportions as the foundation of what Di Matteo intends to develop into an overall visual identity.
Swimwear marks the first chapter of the brand, but Descalco has bigger ambitions. Following its August debut, the label plans to expand into briefs, performance swimwear and eventually ready-to-wear, accessories and beauty.
