It’s a Bermuda short summer.
Last week Abigail Hoagberg, Trendalytics‘ head of trend and editorial strategy, presented the trend intelligence platform’s June 2026 trend report, naming the styles, fits and influences shaping fashion, accessory and beauty trends.
Denim Bermuda shorts are dominating summer, Hoagberg said, supported by over 3 million TikTok views and a 191 percent increase in social buzz among influencers. Interest in the shorts began to grow on TikTok in January and continued into festival season, underscoring Bermuda’s staying power. Additionally, Hoagberg said trendsetting celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber have been spotted wearing the “long line silhouette.”
The laidback bottoms are the perfect companion for this summer’s must-have item: the soccer jersey. Hoagberg said the FIFA World Cup is fueling demand for country jerseys, with the France jersey being the most-searched jersey. Searches for the Nike top with a white collar is up 426 percent compared to last year.
Searches for team jerseys for Portugal, the Netherlands and Japan are seeing triple-digit increases. Meanwhile, Hoagberg said interest in the U.S. soccer jersey continues to accelerate, up 278 percent as the team advances in the tournament.
Another denim trend that gained momentum in June is the skinny jean, but Hoagberg warned that the fit won’t dominate the category like it did in the 2010s. Instead, she said denim assortments are becoming more varied, allowing consumers to choose different silhouettes to change up their daily look.
“We’re seeing the denim category really evolve,” she said, noting how wide-leg jeans are slowly “slimming down.” Instead, high-rise straight jeans and cigarette jeans are becoming a street style favorite.
While color denim is popping up on the Spring/Summer 2027 runway, Hoagberg said consumers’ focus continues to be on classic washes and utilitarian colors. Light wash indigo and dark indigo with heavy whiskering and distressing remain the dominate palette, but non-indigo colors like charcoal, olive, ecru and sand are gaining importance.
In children’s wear, embroidery trends are driving demand for denim. Hoagberg said consumers are posting DIY videos on how they’re adding embroidered seashells and flowers on the back pockets of children’s shorts and jeans. Trendalytics’ data shows that embroidered shorts are up 88 percent among key influencers.
In general, Hoagberg said parents are gravitating to nostalgic styles for their kids. Denim pinafore dresses, or apron dresses, are slowly on the rise. Dresses with ric-rac trim are also gaining momentum. Denim pinafore dresses increased 58 percent compared to last year, while ric-rac dresses increased 303 percent.
Though the dress silhouettes are not styles Hoagberg expected to see in the data, she said it “goes to show that classic silhouettes are making a comeback.”
