In the oppressive New York heat, city-slickers might be more inclined to shed their layers. Not Blake Lively, though, who embraced maximalism in every sense on a recent date night with Ryan Reynolds.
For date night with her husband, the actor paired a foundational white tank top with standout pants: a pair of high-waisted black-and-white polka-dot trousers, their tapered legs adorned with gold buttons. Over the staple tank, she added a thigh-grazing brown leather blazer with a structured shoulder and a nipped waist.
The bold, patterned bottoms alone would have been enough of a statement, but Lively approached her accessorizing with a more-is-more credo. Playing off her pants, the actor toted a black Fendi baguette with white polka dots and black micro beaded embellishments.
Every piece had some element of glitz. She draped a thick gold necklace over her collarbone, a massive burgundy cabochon in the center. Lively finished off the look with a pair of black satin Louboutin sandals, the 4-inch gold heels encrusted with rhinestones.
For the maximalists among us, take note from Blake Lively: summer heat doesn’t mean you have to strip down your style.
