Can you feel that? Lady Gaga is stirring up some fashion mayhem.
Yesterday, at The Grove in Los Angeles, Gaga paid homage to her late friend Alexander McQueen at the world premiere of Mayhem Requiem—a recording of her no-phones-allowed performance at the Wiltern. The singer graced the rose petal-strewn black carpet in an operatic gown from McQueen’s fall 1997 couture collection for Givenchy, “Eclect Dissect.”
Gaga opted for a matador-esque dress inspired by the Spanish bullfighters’ traditional traje de luces—a red and black silk satin gown replete with open, lace-trimmed sleeves, a rhinestoned mock neck, tasseled epaulettes, and a flared skirt with a layer of black lace sitting atop the red silk.
As if the dress itself wasn’t a statement enough, Gaga dialed up the theatricality with a netted veil and a black lace fan—not to mention the troupe of white-clad posse of dancers clutching roses at her side.
