THE WHAT? Blackstone is exploring the sale of medical-grade skincare brand ZO Skin Health in a deal that could value the business at around US$2 billion.
THE DETAILS The investment firm is reportedly working with Citigroup and Raymond James on an early-stage sale process. Founded by dermatologist Dr Zein Obagi in 2007, ZO Skin Health offers cleansers, serums, exfoliators, toners and other skincare products distributed primarily through physicians and skincare professionals. Blackstone, Citigroup, ZO Skin Health and Raymond James have not confirmed details of the potential transaction.
THE WHY? A potential sale comes amid growing investor and strategic buyer interest in clinically backed, physician-distributed skincare, where efficacy credentials and professional distribution can provide differentiation and more resilient demand than traditional over-the-counter skincare.
