Shop Mattel’s Stylish, Holiday-Themed Barbies Before They Sell Out

Ah, Mattel‘s annual Holiday Barbie release. Since 1988, it’s been a tradition as symbolic of Christmastime as caroling or egg nog–drinking, though last year the famed toy company was faced with backlash over the limited-edition Barbie’s final look that — how should we put it? — left a lot to be desired.

Dressed in a silver-and-gold, damask-printed gown boasting a tulle trim at the top, she proceeded to be compared with everything from the curtains in your grandmother’s house to a tree skirt. And while Holiday Barbies of yore managed to fetch three-figure prices on the resale market, it’s safe to say this one’s post-launch reception didn’t cause nearly as much frenzy.

In 2026, Mattel is doubling down and averting any PR blunders with a Holiday Barbie collection that, by all accounts, looks genuinely gorgeous. The collectible comes in multiple skin tones and hair colors, representative of the brand’s commitment to championing diversity. She’s also joined by a range of boyfriends, with shoppers being able to pick one with traditionally light or dark features.

Spoiler alert: Her earrings take the shape of holiday holly.

But because he’s just Ken, the main draw here is Barbie’s on-point ensemble. The doll exudes holiday glam in her floor-length, bold-red dress (reading as timeless and not tacky this time, courtesy of a sweetheart neckline, oversized bow detail, and voluminous skirt). Completing the festive threads is a pair of silver earrings and similarly red, strappy pumps.

Barbie’s hair choices, too, are ever so composed and elegant. Done up with a half-up, half-down ‘do, a platinum blonde side sweep, a slicked-back, jet-black look, or gently curling ends, the woman of the hour resembles any number of A-listers who have graced red carpets recently. As for her companion, the Kens of the collection adhere to a typical gala dress code in their red satin jackets, collared shirts, shiny dress shoes, and bow ties.

According to their maker, the toys are “dressed to celebrate.” Rounding out each purchase is Mattel’s special packaging, featuring an eye-catching array of gold-tone snowflakes that you’ll want to display in your room — or that of your child.

This Ken flaunts textured, versus painted-on, hair.

In truth, Mattel’s most exclusive product reveals, like this one, know no age limit. Already, adults have sparked passionate conversations on social media about the latest Holiday Barbie and Ken duo. “He’s so handsome! Always in need of more rooted Kens,” a Reddit user says, referring to the lifelike, brushable hair that’s inserted directly into the doll’s head. Per another, “I’m so glad they upgraded her earrings!!” And even more succinct: “Oh I like him.”

All buzz considered, we’re expecting the 2026 Holiday Barbie drop to sell out in weeks (and certainly before December comes around). Shop early and pamper yourself, or the Barbara Millicent Roberts devotees in your life, with the closest thing you can get to an heirloom in Malibu’s fictional Dreamhouse.
