Spain or Argentina? Here’s Some 2026 World Cup Final Fashion Inspiration, Straight From the Runways

The 2026 World Cup final is nearly here. By Sunday evening, we’ll know whether Spain or Argentina will take home the trophy—plus the $50 million in prize money.

Whether or not you’re pledging allegiance to Lamine Yamal or Lionel Messi (or if you just hope that both teams have fun!), you may be asking yourself what to wear for the final face-off. Here, we rounded up runway looks that feature Spain’s vivacious red and yellow and Argentina’s cool blue and white.

    Spain

When in doubt: play with texture, pattern and layering. There’s some answers across the seasons. In fall 2026, Henry Zankov paired a long tomato red tee over a butter yellow beaded long-sleeve dress, while in 2019, Sies Marjan topped off a belted shirt dress with a transparent yellow raincoat. And, of course, Spanish brand Loewe had to offer their own spin: for their inaugural collection, Jack McCullough and Lazaro Hernandez offered slick layers in the primary hues.

Designers have taken disparate approaches to this bold color palette. In spring 2018, Etro offered a flowing bohemian interpretation among a sporty-leaning collection. That same season, Bottega Veneta went for boyish and boxy. So, no matter your sartorial leanings, there’s room to play with these bright hues whether you’re in the game stands or elsewhere.

    Argentina

While Argentina’s on-pitch style is anything but relaxed, their color palette pairs perfectly with dreamy designs, light fabrics, and airy silhouettes. Just take Stella McCartney’s spring 2004 collection, which featured a flowing, organic dress practically made for a water nymph. Or Chloé’s spring 2005 separates—a semi-sheer tuxedo shirt, low-slung shorts, and a lightweight blazer, which seemed to Hamptonize suiting.

Still, though, there’s more options for people who prefer some structure. In spring 2021, Hermès suggested a sky blue leather coat with a belted off-white miniskirt, while Oscar de la Renta sent a blown-up blue and white gingham jacket with tailored trousers down the spring 2015 runway.
