THE WHAT? Sephora Australia has posted revenue growth while continuing to operate at a loss.
THE DETAILS The LVMH-owned retailer recorded revenue of $368.9 million for the 12-month period, representing growth of just over 9%. Sephora operates 33 stores nationwide and stocks major global beauty brands including Fenty Beauty, Rare Beauty and Tarte Cosmetics. Despite the sales increase, the business reported a loss of $22.5 million, widening from $13.4 million the previous year and marking its seventh consecutive year of losses in the Australian market.
THE WHY? The continued losses suggest ongoing operational and competitive challenges in scaling profitability within the Australian prestige beauty retail landscape, despite steady top-line growth.
