Rosalía Turns the Ballet Flat Trend Into a Full Ballerina Moment

Rosalía made the ballet flat revival more literal on Saturday, arriving at Netflix’s “La Jarana en el Guadalquivir” in Seville in a pair of white ruched flats that read closer to actual dance shoes than the ballerina-style flats reemerging in celebrity wardrobes.

The white pair had a soft, rounded-square toe and a low vamp that exposed the top of the foot. Fine ruching gathered the front of the shoe, while the crossed straps gave the silhouette a dance-class read without moving into actual pointe-shoe territory. While the flats read similar to Dolce & Gabbana’s logo-buckle ballet flats, Rosalía’s pair did not appear to include the Italian label’s signature buckle detail across the strap.

The “Con Altura” singer wore the flats with a white strapless dress that kept the ballet reference close without veering into costume territory. The dress’ semi-sheer bodice revealed corset-style seaming underneath, with two ribbon ties falling from the neckline. The airy silhouette widened softly at the sides before ending above the knee with lace-like bands near the lower edge.

The look arrived as ballet flats continue to stretch in several directions across celebrity style. Harry Styles and Zoë Kravitz have made the shape part of their shared off-duty vocabulary, while Olivia Rodrigo recently used Miu Miu’s satin logo-strap flats to pull her “SNL” wardrobe into softer, school-uniform territory. A$AP Rocky has also been part of the conversation from another angle, recently discussing a Chanel bag with matching miniature ballerina shoes attached at the house’s cruise 2027 show.

Rosalía’s version felt less like another quiet luxury flat and more like a return to the source material. The straps, ruched toe and all-white styling moved the trend away from everyday city dressing and back toward the studio cues that made the ballerina flat recognizable in the first place.

The appearance also followed Rosalía’s latest New Balance chapter. In February, she returned to front the brand’s 204L campaign, spotlighting a low-profile sneaker with scalloped detailing and ribbon laces. In Seville, she kept the softness but traded the sneaker line for a cleaner ballet-shoe shape. Late last year, she also starred in Calvin Klein’s underwear campaign.

Netflix turned the Seville premiere for “Berlín: La dama del armiño” into a full riverside spectacle. The event, staged on and around the Guadalquivir River near the Torre del Oro, brought together cast appearances, boats, floating screens and a surprise Rosalía performance, with the singer later performing “Reliquia” and “La Perla” from “LUX” from a floating stage.
