Olivia Wilde is ditching the high heels for “The Invite” press tour. While most celebrities strap themselves into the tallest stilettos money can buy to promote their new projects, the actress has so far been sporting some comfortable yet trendy footwear during her appearances.

Wilde is set to star in the new A24 movie “The Invite,” which was written by Rashida Jones and also stars Seth Rogen and Penelope Cruz. The movie, which releases on June 26, follows a couple who invite their free-spirited neighbors to dinner that quickly turns into a nightmare.
On Wednesday, she opted for a pair of minimalist loafers in black leather for a Q&A after the BAFTA screening of the film at Regal Union Square. Earlier this week, Wilde sat down for another interview about the movie on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” Ahead of the interview on Tuesday, she was spotted leaving her hotel in a polished ensemble that looked more relaxed thanks to a pair of Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 sneakers.

The “Don’t Worry, Darling” director wore Officine Generale’s Elia pants, the brand’s Cleo vest and its Valerianne jacket all in black, accessorized with a New Yorker tote bag and Ray Ban Wayfarer Reverse sunglasses. While other stars usually swap their walking shoes for more formal shoes, Wilde stuck to her Mexico 66 sneakers, which she wore in a black and white colorway.
The Mexico 66 model has been trending for the last couple of years. The sneakers feature bright white leather overlays from the brand’s signature crossed stripes on the side panel against a black leather upper. The shoes feature a round toe, front lace-up fastening, and a plush OrthoLite sockliner for added cushioning. A logo patch at the tongue and a branded heel counter complete the low-profile lifestyle shoes.

The stylish sneakers combine the features of the original Limber-Up training shoe that debuted in 1961, and the design of the Limber shoe that debuted in 1966, as one of the first models that featured the signature Onitsuka Tiger Stripes. The shoes are available in a variety of colorways, including the yellow/black colorway, which is among the most popular and recognizable iterations of the shoe.
The shoes have been a popular choice as lifestyle sneakers have moved away from chunky dad sneakers to more stylish, narrow, and slimmer shoe profiles. And soon, the sneakers might become more widely accessible.
