Nike Air Force 1 ’07 ‘Game Day’ Available Now IV5685-365

Life imitates art on one of Nike’s latest Air Force 1 releases, which has drawn comparisons to an infamous bootleg sneaker which the Beaverton, Ore.-based company issued a cease and desist order over.

The Nike Air Force 1 ’07 “Game Day” is a women’s-exclusive style of the sneaker which is available now. The Malachite/University Gold/Gum Medium Brown/Coconut Milk sneaker comes equipped with removable metallic gold charms, including one in the shape of a basketball, but Nike did not otherwise elaborate on the style’s Game Day theme.

Without an official explanation from the brand, fans have been left to speculate on their own, and few have been able to ignore the pair’s strong likeness to the 2006 Menthol 10 bootleg sneaker designed by Ari Saal Forman. The designer’s mid-2000s creation used the iconic Air Force 1 silhouette and rendered it in the colors of cigarette brand Newport. 

Forman’s design combined the mint green Newport color with the cigarette brand’s stripe design, gold accenting and even included the brand’s spinnaker logo, which has frequently been compared to an upside-down Nike Swoosh.

And while Nike was somewhat lenient in its cease and desist approach, the cigarette manufacturer was far less understanding and its then-parent company, Lorillard Tobacco Company, issued a lawsuit against Forman. He was required to destroy all remaining stock ofd the Menthol 10s and a clause in the settlement even forbade him from personally owning a pair.

And while the Menthol 10s have become a legendary piece of sneaker lore, their age and rarity have made them all but unattainable in 2026. If you’re lucky enough to come across a pair, be prepared to pay a serious premium, and don’t be surprised if the original accessories and packaging are no longer intact.

The good news is that the curiously similar-looking Nike Air Force 1 ’07 Game Day is available now. The pair is available from nike.com and select retailers for $125 and its style code is IV5685-365.
