THE WHAT? KT and Amorepacific have developed a specialised generative AI research assistant called Lemon, enabling the cosmetics company to dramatically reduce research and regulatory review times during product development.
THE DETAILS Built using data from Amorepacific’s Research & Innovation (R&I) Center, Lemon enables researchers to review scientific literature, ingredient histories and regulatory information in approximately five minutes, compared with up to 12 days previously. Ingredient research that once required six days can also now be completed in around five minutes. Amorepacific said the AI assistant will allow researchers to spend less time on repetitive information gathering and more time on innovation, with plans to expand the use of AI agents across its research operations.
THE WHY? The collaboration demonstrates how generative AI is becoming an increasingly important tool for cosmetics research and development. By accelerating ingredient evaluation and regulatory reviews, AI has the potential to shorten product development cycles, improve R&D efficiency and strengthen innovation capabilities across the beauty industry.
