THE WHAT? Henkel has issued a voluntary recall of selected batches of Schwarzkopf Professional Osis Grip 200ml in the US due to a packaging defect that could cause the product to leak under pressure, creating a potential explosion risk.
THE DETAILS The recall covers 25 batches of Schwarzkopf Professional Osis Grip packaged in aluminium cans and distributed through 21 distributors across 12 US states, as well as to salons, hair professionals and consumers. Henkel initiated the recall after receiving one customer complaint and two salon reports relating to the packaging issue. One customer reported bruising to the hand, with no other injuries identified. No other Henkel products are affected, and Osis Grip products carrying batch codes outside the recall remain unaffected. The voluntary action is being conducted with the knowledge of the US Food and Drug Administration.
THE WHY? The recall highlights the importance of packaging integrity and product safety within the professional hair care supply chain, particularly for pressurised formats distributed through salons and professional channels. Henkel’s decision to recall affected batches following the reported incidents is intended to mitigate further safety risks.
