Denim Tears Honors André Leon Talley With Fall 2026 Collection

Denim Tears’ Fall/Winter 2026 collection pays homage to a pioneer in black fashion.

On Aug. 14, the brand will launch its Fall/Winter 2026 collection in collaboration with the André Leon Talley estate. Talley was the first Black male creative director at American Vogue, and later its editor-at-large.

While Talley was a fixture at fashion week and became known for his flamboyant style, he also used his position to champion Black designers. Denim Tears said Talley recognized the talents of culturally impactful designers in the infancy of their careers.

“The Fall/Winter is an exploration of a specific part of André Leon Talley’s style that had social implications within and beyond fashion. André was the first in fashion to herald Black fashion designers such as Phat Farm, Billionaire Boys Club, Dapper Dan etc., showing up front row at shows and wearing their clothes at a time when no one else did in the fashion world,” said Tremaine Emory, Denim Tears founder.

Pieces throughout the 153-piece collection reference items that Talley wore, including a custom NAACP T-shirt, bedazzled with his name across the front. Denim Tears has licensed the NAACP mark to replicate it. Other Talley-inspired pieces include a beanie, a monogram towel, a two-tone button-down shirt, track pants and a trench coat.

Emory added that the collection focuses on the mix of diaspora clothing, Black designers and traditional fashion that Talley combined effortlessly. “In the period from the 90’s till his death he always looked chic, luxurious, cool, comfortable, sporty and unmistakably Black,” he said.

The collection marks the first apparel collaboration authorized by the Andre Leon Talley Estate.

“André believed fashion was about culture, history, and creating opportunities for others. This collection honors the way he championed Black designers and celebrated the richness of the African diaspora. We are proud to partner with Denim Tears on the Estate’s first apparel collaboration, ensuring his legacy continues to inspire future generations,” the Estate stated.

The Fall/Winter 2026 will be released across five drops throughout the season.

The collection also includes the latest iteration of Stüssy Tears, pieces made with Billionaire Boys Club, and a collaboration with L.A.-based multidisciplinary artist and designer Spacebrat, who “explores womanhood and the appropriation of beauty within African American culture through a characteristic airbrushed style.”

Other highlights include metallic denim jackets and jeans, PrimaLoft-filled down puffers and vests in bandana prints, workwear jackets, leather constructions, and reversible varsity jackets. The brand’s signature Cotton Wreath appears in several reinterpretations, including paisley, monogram, peace wreath and single wreath embroidery, alongside returning styles in new seasonal colorways.
