THE WHAT? Silicon2 has secured a KRW300 billion investment from CVC Capital Partners as the K-beauty distribution company looks to accelerate the expansion of its international distribution and logistics infrastructure.
THE DETAILS CVC Capital will invest through its special purpose vehicle Starlink Investment, which will acquire 6.67 million newly issued redeemable convertible shares in Silicon2 at KRW45,000 per share, representing a 9.23% stake. Silicon2 operates a K-beauty distribution platform that purchases products from South Korean indie cosmetics brands and supports their international expansion through distribution, logistics, inventory management and marketing. The company generated first-half revenue of KRW749.2 billion, including KRW249.3 billion from the EU, while US revenue increased to KRW135 billion from KRW80.5 billion a year earlier. Silicon2 plans to use the investment and CVC’s international network to strengthen its infrastructure across Europe, the US, the Middle East and Asia, while continuing expansion into Latin America and Southeast Asia.
THE WHY? The investment underscores growing institutional interest in the infrastructure supporting K-beauty’s international expansion, rather than cosmetics brands alone. For Silicon2, CVC’s capital and consumer-sector expertise could help scale the distribution and logistics capabilities required to bring a growing portfolio of independent Korean beauty brands into global markets.
