THE WHAT? Clicks Group has increased its stake in South African premium beauty retailer ARC Store to 61 percent after acquiring an additional 35.3 percent interest for R507 million.
THE DETAILS Clicks first invested in ARC in 2021 and increased its holding to 25.7 percent in 2025. Founded in 2020, ARC operates 12 stores across South Africa alongside its e-commerce business, with a portfolio spanning prestige fragrance, skincare, make-up, hair care and bath and body brands. The retailer plans to expand its network to between 20 and 30 stores over the medium term. Existing shareholders will remain invested, while ARC’s executive management has committed to stay with the business until at least 2028. The transaction remains subject to competition authority approval.
THE WHY? The acquisition gives Clicks a controlling position in South Africa’s premium beauty market, currently valued at more than R6 billion annually, while providing ARC with the backing of a major retail group as it accelerates its physical and digital expansion.
