THE WHAT? Amorepacific Group Chairman Seo Kyung-bae has gifted approximately KRW4.5 billion (US$3.2 million) worth of Amorepacific shares to five relatives, according to a regulatory filing in South Korea.
THE DETAILS Seo transferred 33,891 common shares on 13 October 2026, valued at approximately KRW4.48 billion based on the previous day’s closing price. Three recipients, Seo Kang-su, Seo Deok-gi and Seo Jae-eun, each received 7,565 shares worth approximately KRW1 billion, while Seo In-seon received 7,489 shares and Seo Joo-hyun received 3,707 shares. All five were registered as Amorepacific shareholders for the first time following the transfers. Neither of Seo’s daughters was among the recipients, and the company declined to disclose further details regarding the family relationships or reasons for the gifts.
THE WHY? The transfers represent a redistribution of personal shareholdings within the family of Amorepacific’s Chairman, introducing five additional relatives to the company’s shareholder register. While the transactions do not indicate any immediate operational changes, family ownership arrangements remain relevant to corporate governance and long-term succession considerations at major family-controlled beauty groups.
