Air Jordan 8 ‘Bin 23’ Release Date IO2053-300

Following luxe renditions of the Air Jordan 6 and Air Jordan 3, another one of Michael Jordan’s signature sneakers is set to receive the brand’s ultra-premium Bin 23 treatment. 

News of an Air Jordan 8 Bin 23 first surfaced in September and now, the sneaker is weeks away from arriving at retail. As expected, the pair features a green-based design with a full colorway of Legion Pine/Legion Pine/Red. And while the aforementioned Air Jordan 6 and Air Jordan 3 took inspiration from luxury vehicles and fine wine, respectively, the Air Jordan 8 references a legacy Jordan Brand pattern which has been applied to the majority of the Air Jordan 8’s upper.

Nearly the entire upper of the tonal style is embossed with the abstract print, which is reminiscent of the African-inspired art featured on the liner of the original Air Jordan 8 Playoffs. The rest of the upper is constructed with a perforated nubuck in a matching Legion Pine green, and the sneaker has several hidden details throughout. The shoe’s heel tab features vachetta leather on the underside, as do the Air Jordan 8’s signature support straps, allowing the wearer to wear them undone with some added contrast. Further hidden details include a colorized version of the pattern on the outsole and stitched-down tongue logos, which include the Bin 23 line’s red wax stamp on the left shoe.

As usual with the Bin 23 series, the Air Jordan 8 will come with several accessories befitting of its premium designation including cotton dust bags, wooden shoe trees and a special pull-out box. Unique to the Air Jordan 8 is a vachetta leather insole, which has also been embossed with the sneaker’s abstract pattern.

Following the Bin 23 series’ Air Jordan 6, Air Jordan 3 and Air Jordan 8 releases, a final model, the Air Jordan 4, will join the lineup in December. The Air Jordan 4 Bin 23 will reportedly feature a Wild West-inspired theme in a Fauna Brown/Baroque Brown/Muslin/Gym Red colorway.

Given its luxe build, the Air Jordan 8 Bin 23 will come at a higher-than-usual retail price of $350 when it releases on Aug. 15 from Nike’s Snkrs app and select Jordan Brand retailers. The style code for the pair is IO2053-300.
