Air Jordan 11 Retro ‘Monstars (Green Screen)’ Release Date

Jordan Brand is going all-out with its “Space Jam”-themed sneaker releases in celebration of the film’s 30th anniversary.

Not only will the Air Jordan 11 Space Jam return in its original form, but the Nike, Inc. offshoot is also introducing an all-new “Space Jam Galaxy” Air Jordan 11 style. But it turns out there’s even more in the works for the milestone. According to @zsneakerheadz and Sneaker Files, a new Air Jordan 11 “Monstars” colorway will also be added to the lineup.

While in-hand images aren’t yet available, a speculative mock-up was provided which depicts the Air Jordan 11 with an all-suede green upper. The changes deviate from the Air Jordan 11’s signature patent leather and ballistic mesh-based upper, but the style does include a translucent glow-in-the-dark outsole. Also notable in the early render is a fully suede-wrapped midsole, also in green.

Early information indicates that the colorway is not only connected to the film’s antagonistic Monstars team, but from behind-the-scenes shots of Space Jam’s creation with Jordan playing basketball in front of a green screen. Thus, the pair is currently pegged with both “Monstars” and “Green Screen” nicknames, although it’s likely that Nike will emphasize just one of the inspirations upon the sneaker’s holiday release.

Space Jam-themed Air Jordan 11s have been in the news cycle recently after early reports stated the upcoming reissue would retail for $255. That rumor has since been refuted, and the standard Air Jordan 11 Retro Space Jam is expected to retail for a more typical $235.

And the Space Jam frenzy isn’t limited to the Air Jordan 11. Another sneaker seen in the movie, the Air Jordan 9, will return this year complete with Space Jam-themed packaging.

The Air Jordan 11 Retro Monstars is set to be released this holiday season and will come at a premium retail price of $255 with availability exclusively from Nike Nbhd stores.
