Adds Stores in Greenwich Village & Cobble Hill

Res Ipsa, the brand known for its handwoven apparel and colorful kilim shoes, is expanding its retail footprint in New York.

Following the opening of its first store on Elizabeth Street in NoLIta in 2023, the brand has added units in Greenwich Village and Cobble Hill, Brooklyn.

The 500-square-foot boutique at 19 Christopher Street and the 700-square-foot store at 289 Court Street bring the brand’s total number of stores to nine. The other stores are located in Paris, Malibu, Aspen, Los Angeles, Nantucket and Marrakech.

“New York is the city of possibilities,” said Res Ipsa cofounder Joshua Moore. “The response to our NoLita store showed us that Res Ipsa has a passionate New York customer who understands what we do. Christopher Street and Court Street both felt right immediately because each has such a strong identity and sense of place.”

The new boutiques were designed by Moore and cofounder Odini Gogo. Each store has a distinct color palette but carries Res Ispa’s handwoven apparel, small-batch upcycled garments and kilim shoes. They also feature the brand’s signature Hudson’s Bay stag head and shoe wall.

“One of our core beliefs is that retail is not dead,” Gogo said. “People still want to discover things in a setting with atmosphere, speak with someone who knows the product and experience a physical item in all three dimensions. Christopher Street and Court Street are very different neighborhoods, but both attract discerning, open-minded people. That is where experiential retail can thrive.”

Res Ispa designs and produces its collection in Marrakech, where it repurposes deadstock and vintage textiles and weaves original fabrics on large wooden looms.
