BSF Enterprise Signs 10-Year Global Cosmetics Deal for Bioactive Peptide

THE WHAT? BSF Enterprise has signed a 10-year exclusive global commercialisation and supply partnership with German consultancy SCHAKAU Managementberatung for its ETSYL bioactive peptide, targeting applications across the cosmetics and skincare industry.

THE DETAILS Under the agreement, SCHAKAU will receive exclusive worldwide commercialisation, distribution and licensing rights for ETSYL, also known as palmitoyl pentapeptide-87, subject to annual volume targets. Originally developed for tissue engineering, the peptide has potential skincare applications linked to collagen production. SCHAKAU plans to use ETSYL as a core active in its HANDS OF GOD luxury skincare brand while pursuing licensing agreements with other cosmetics companies. It has allocated approximately €300,000 towards clinical claim substantiation, regulatory compliance, brand development and international distribution. BSF subsidiary 3D Bio-tissues will manufacture and supply the ingredient, while BSF retains full ownership of the associated intellectual property and will receive 50% of net licensing income from third-party brand integrations.

THE WHY? The agreement provides BSF with a capital-light route into the global cosmetics ingredients market, transferring much of the cost and responsibility for clinical testing, regulatory work and commercial development to SCHAKAU while retaining ownership of the technology. The third-party licensing strategy could also broaden ETSYL’s use beyond a single skincare brand and establish the peptide as a commercial cosmetic active.
