Marvel has officially found its new Black Panther.
This week, actor David Jonsson was announced as the lead in the forthcoming Black Panther 3 film, set to release in December 2028. Director Ryan Coogler—of Oscars-sweeper Sinners—unveiled the news at Comic-Con this week, and it’s certainly a poignant role to fill: Jonsson will be following in the footsteps of the late actor Chadwick Boseman, who portrayed Black Panther in the first two superhero films.
With such a buzzy new gig on his resumé, Jonsson is fast on his way to true A-lister status—but he’s already built up an impressive career for himself. The British star, who began in the West End, has appeared in Industry, and films such as Rye Lane, The Long Walk and Alien: Romulus. Last year, he also won the EE Rising Star BAFTA award. And his red carpet style? It’s been just as movie star-worthy, too.
Over the past year, Jonsson has proven he has what it takes to be a leading Hollywood man, dressing the part in sleek outfits that are tailored and polished, yet still undeniably cool. (His personal style is so on point, that he was even snatched up by Loewe this week, announced as the brand’s latest ambassador.)
Take Jonsson’s classic black Hermès tuxedo, worn to the BAFTAs earlier this year. He spiced it up with a Cartier three-leaf clover brooch and bandana-style necktie. At the Independent Spirit Awards, he slipped into a black Loewe suit with a contrasting red knit collar. Don’t forget the Louis Vuitton pink cardigan and shirt-and-tie combo, worn to the 2026 Critics’ Circle Film Awards, and finished with a satiny green cargo pant. Delicious!
It’s these little twists on classic menswear codes that have cemented Jonsson’s status as a red carpet start to watch. And it’s only going to continue getting better. Just think of the Black Panther 3 press tour wardrobe we’ll get…men in Hollywood should be scared.
