No heatwave will stop Rihanna turning a look, especially when she’s in Paris and New York—two of her favorite cities, where the singer seems to gain a new level of sartorial power each time. On this occasion? Rihanna made the tricky issue of bottom-half dressing in balmy weather both stateside and in Europe her own.
First, Rihanna headed out for a night at Pergola in NYC: she wore an oversized and cropped gray fleece hoodie, paired with charcoal leggings and a wide black waist belt with an oversized silver buckle. On her feet, a pair of black pointed stilettos with thick ankle straps, and she accessorized with oversized black shield sunglasses and a rare Louis Vuitton Fleur de Jais Speedy 30 bag with a floral and sequin finish. (The vintage bag was recently sold pre-loved for $2,420 online, and looks to be a new addition to Rih’s vast LV bag collection.)
The Fenty mogul has long been steering the return of the legging and that sharper bottom-half silhouette, paired with a more voluminous upper. Rather than wearing leggings as leisurewear, she likes to dress them up with stilettos and it-bags. Rih tends to transcend the trends—from double denim to animal print—to always do her own thing, and this is one she’s been sticking to season-to-season.
Next, Rihanna was spotted in Paris departing the Four Seasons Hotel in a sleek, all-black ensemble. Once again, she donned a hooded jacket (Rih is also an ardent fan of the high fashion hoodie) and black t-shirt, paired with a sheer black embroidered skirt and black pointed boots. Once again, she wore black oversized sunglasses, and added layers of diamond necklaces and embellished drop earrings. Her hair was worn up in a slicked bag, intricate bun. Sexy and sheer is also a Rihanna calling card, of course, and an airflow-friendly sheer skirt offers some light relief in the French capital’s sweltering heatwave.
This summer, Rih has both responded to the moment and stayed true to all of her signatures. Last week, for one, she leaned into the sporty mood du jour in stripes upon stripes. Out and about with A$AP Rocky, she opted for a billowing maxi dress with stacks of gold jewelry—a polar opposite look to her partner, who wore layered shirts and stocky Timberland boots.
But whether in New York, Paris, or back in Beverly Hills, trust Rihanna won’t let a spike in Fahrenheit mess with her fashions.
