Alexander McQueen to Return to London Fashion Week with September Show

LONDON — Alexander McQueen is saying “adieu” to Paris and returning to London Fashion Week for the spring 2027 season with a show set for Sept. 20.

It will be creative director Seán McGirr’s first time showing McQueen in London, with the collection set to offer sharp tailoring, signature occasion dressing, womenswear and menswear.

McGirr said “London has always been at the heart of McQueen; there’s a uniquely visceral energy to the city that runs throughout the house’s history and continues to inspire everything we do today. Returning to London Fashion Week allows us to deeply engage with that spirit and the creative community that defines both London and this house.”

The brand’s newly appointed chief executive officer Gianfranco D’Attis said “bringing McQueen back to London Fashion Week is a meaningful moment for the house. London is where our story began and remains central to our identity. We are proud to reaffirm our commitment to the British Fashion Council and to the city’s extraordinary creative ecosystem, while continuing to build on McQueen’s heritage and shape its future.”

For Laura Weir, CEO of the BFC, McQueen’s return is the realization of a dream.

“One of my earliest ambitions as CEO has been to see Alexander McQueen return home to London Fashion Week. Few have shaped the global fashion landscape with the same force, imagination and cultural impact, and now is the time to welcome the brand back to its London roots,” she said.

Weir added: “McQueen’s return is a statement of confidence in British creativity at its most fearless and distinctive. We are proud to welcome the house back to the official schedule and look forward to building an ambitious and meaningful partnership across the seasons ahead.”

Lee Alexander McQueen founded the brand in 1992, and staged his raw, high-energy shows in London before decamping to Paris to join fashion’s other big names.

In the wake of the pandemic, the brand’s former creative director Sarah Burton staged shows, off-calendar, at a variety of venues in London. They included the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich and the rooftop of an East London car park, with the runway and seating encased in a giant bubble.

The brand is doubling down on London. As reported, Alexander McQueen is exiting its store location at 27 Old Bond Street, which it has occupied since 2019, and will move into a smaller unit on the same street amid a company restructuring.

The move is set to happen in the fall. The store will be run by the existing team and will have a fresh layout and interiors concept, and carry the complete McQueen assortment.
