FEVER: As football fever grips France in the wake of Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League victory, Jacquemus has unveiled a new collaboration with the French Football Federation and Nike.
The hero item is a jersey that will be worn as a pre-match shirt by French national team players this summer, when the FIFA World Cup 2026 takes place in the U.S., Mexico and Canada, from June 11 to July 19.
According to the Paris-based fashion house, the collection is rooted in founder Simon Porte Jacquemus’ “lifelong connection to football” and a vintage navy Nike tracksuit jacket from his youth.
“From this memory emerges a wardrobe that revisits the nostalgia of 1990s football culture through clean lines, pure proportions and an unmistakably French elegance,” the house said in a statement Monday, when it also released teaser videos featuring such star players as Aurelien Tchouameni, Marcus Thuram, Désiré Doué, Warren Zaire-Emery and Killian Mbappé wearing some of the merchandise.
The designer’s collaboration with Nike stretches back to 2022, when he also took inspiration from vintage pieces and Nike campaigns from the ’90s.
For the new French Football Federation project, Jacquemus explores how football influences style, identity and creative expression.
The designer also blended the iconic colors of the French flag — blue, white and red — with timeless sportswear references and “refined simplicity.
“Signature stripes are reinterpreted through a football perspective, while classic fabrics replace technical materials, creating pieces that feel honest, enduring and deeply connected to the heritage of the game,” according to Jacquemus, which also partnered with Sport dans la Ville as an associated nonprofit partner.
Created in 1998, Sport dans la Ville helps young people from disadvantaged neighborhoods by offering team sport sessions.
