Chanel Partners with Dia Art Foundation for Art and Cultural Support

ART PARTNERS: Dia Art Foundation has a new luxury partner.

The nonprofit organization has joined forces with Chanel ahead of the Dia Beacon gallery’s annual Spring Benefit luncheon, to be held Saturday in upstate New York in tandem with New York Art Week. The French fashion house will also support the foundation’s fall gala in New York City.

“Through this partnership, Chanel and Dia affirm a shared vision: placing artists at the center, supporting ambitious artistic practices and nurturing long-term cultural impact,” Chanel said in a statement shared exclusively with WWD.

This follows Dia’s previous partnership with Bottega Veneta, which encompassed Matthieu Blazy’s tenure as creative director of the Italian label. Having taken over as artistic director of fashion activities at Chanel last year, Blazy was keen to build on the relationship.

“Dia has long represented a legacy and commitment to artists that feels important to support, and one that echoes a shared love of the brilliance of radical artists and thinkers,” the designer said.

Chanel’s commitment to cultural institutions is a central element of its strategy. Through the Chanel Culture Fund, it supports emerging artists and forges partnerships with international museums and institutions, in keeping with founder Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s well-known role in supporting the arts.

Museums and art foundations have grown increasingly reliant on sponsorship as public funding for culture dries up on both sides of the Atlantic. With the Trump administration imposing restrictions on grants awarded by federal agencies like the National Endowment for the Arts, U.S. demand for private funding has sharply increased.

“Dia Art Foundation is deeply committed to supporting artists in realizing uniquely ambitious bodies of work, and this new partnership with Chanel reflects our shared dedication to artistic process, rigor and long-term engagement,” said Jessica Morgan, director of Dia Art Foundation.

“This collaboration also extends Dia’s longstanding relationship with Matthieu Blazy, and we look forward to building upon our dialogue in the years to come,” she added.
