THE WHAT? Unilever Egypt has opened a new Sunsilk production line at its Mashreq Personal Care Factory, increasing annual production capacity by 20 percent and expanding its manufacturing base for export markets.
THE DETAILS The new line at Unilever’s 6th of October City facility will be dedicated entirely to exports and uses advanced liquid bottling technology to support production at scale. The factory currently directs approximately 65 percent of its output to more than 30 countries and sources around 80 percent of its manufacturing materials locally. Production at the site has quadrupled over the past 20 years, with the facility manufacturing Personal Care, Beauty and Home Care brands including Sunsilk, Dove, LUX, Lifebuoy, Signal, Closeup, TRESemmé and Comfort. Unilever operates three factories in Egypt, with more than half of its total production in the country exported to over 35 markets across four continents.
THE WHY? The investment strengthens Egypt’s role within Unilever’s regional and global manufacturing network, adding export-focused capacity while increasing the importance of local suppliers and manufacturing expertise to the group’s international supply chain.
