THE WHAT? Peru’s exports of essential oils, cosmetics and surfactants increased 6.8 percent to US$89 million during the first seven months of 2026, against a backdrop of strong growth in the country’s wider export economy.
THE DETAILS Peru’s total goods exports rose 33 percent year on year to US$63.52 billion between January and July, marking 27 consecutive months of growth. Within value-added sectors, chemical product exports increased 9.9 percent to US$1.23 billion, including US$89 million generated by essential oils, cosmetics and surfactants. Agricultural exports also reached US$6.33 billion, while natural colourant exports increased 2.5 percent to US$232 million. China and the US remained Peru’s largest export destinations.
THE WHY? The figures point to growing international demand for Peru’s value-added chemical and cosmetics-related exports, alongside opportunities for the country’s suppliers of essential oils, natural colourants and other ingredients used by the beauty and personal care industry.
