“The reason we didn’t [launch] this earlier is because alternative ingredients just were not available,” she says. True to her brand’s strict “no” ingredient list, she sought to avoid a formula built around silicones, talc, PEGs, synthetic fragrances, and other agents that give many traditional foundations their extended, filter-like wear. Eventually, she found a few miracle swaps. Here, she traded silicones for coconut alkane (known to deliver a smooth, silky feel) and amino acid filling powders to blur and absorb excess oil without drying out skin (or, worse, clinging to dry patches).
While blurring has turned into a 2026 cosmetic buzzword, finish has always been integral to Westman’s skin philosophy. “Blurring is a play on light and and texture,” she explains. By making pores appear smoother and diffusing the light in a particular way, the amino acid powders give a filter-like effect while letting the natural skin shine through.
Biocompatible amino acid-derived treatment pigments are another one of formula’s breakthrough ingredients. The technology gives each shade a flexible quality that melds color into the skin with ease. As you apply the thin foundation into skin, you’ll notice it blends like a serum-cream. Dispense one drop on the back of your hand, and start blending with a brush or your fingertips, at the center of the face moving outward. Remember: a little goes a long way.
Once satisfied with the formula’s wear, she turned to the skincare inside. For this, the team entrusted a Spanish biotech lab known for its active ingredients and skincare delivery systems. The formula leads with a peptide complex that targets skin’s elasticity, collagen stimulation, and skin renewal—encapsulated in exosome technolgy that delivers gets the ingredients where they need to go. Then, there’s vitamin B3 for brightening and a trio of botanical extracts to support the skin barrier.
“I’m always thinking about how can I maximize my skincare routine,” she adds. Helping people be more cognizant of what they’re putting on their faces is true luxury. “Quality is something that’s addressing more things than just the superficial cosmetic aspect a foundation. There’s not one single compromise here.”
Lightweight, serum-like, pore-refining—backed by innovative technology and sustainably-sourced ingredients, Suprême Bio-Complex Liquid Foundation is certainly Westman’s dream realized. “I think this is the proudest I’ve ever been of a product—without comparison. If it wasn’t mine, I would be blown away.”
