China Institute of America will celebrate its 100-year anniversary with the Centennial Grand Fashion Gala at The Pierre Hotel in New York on Sept. 8.
The event will honor the artistry and impact of internationally acclaimed Chinese and Chinese American designers, and is a reflection of the China Institute’s century-long commitment to building cultural synergy between China and the U.S.
The Centennial Grand Fashion Gala will be hosted and chaired by Yue-Sai Kan, founder and chairwoman of Yue-Sai Kan One World Foundation, along with co-chair Lynn-Cheng Zhang, chief executive officer of Zhang Financial.
“A century comes only once. When I first filmed in China, fashion there was just beginning — and on Sept. 8, the finest of it will come together in one room in New York,” said Kan, who is an Emmy-winning television host and producer, entrepreneur, bestselling author and humanitarian. “No one has ever brought so many Chinese designers together under one roof. The world will see what a hundred years has made.”

Vera Wang and Guo Pei will be honored as fashion ambassadors, with Lucy Liu attending as a special guest. A runway presentation during the event will feature designs from guests Jason Wu, Vivienne Tam, Grace Chen, Laurence Xu, Sandriver, Wang Feng and Xiong Ying. Additional honorees include Fern Mallis, Fadil Berisha, Bonnie Chan, Roseline Luo, Kerina Wang and Jessica Wang.
Lucy Liu will be a special guest at the Centennial Grand Fashion Gala.

Support of the Centennial Grand Fashion Gala helps China Institute of America advance its mission help people understand the complexity and dynamism of China.
The group was founded in 1926 by American educators John Dewey, Paul Monroe, and Chinese scholars Hu Shih and Kuo Ping-Wen.
