THE WHAT? Procter & Gamble has agreed to acquire science-backed wellness brand Thorne from consumer-focused investment firm L Catterton in a US$3.8 billion cash transaction.
THE DETAILS The acquisition follows L Catterton’s investment in Thorne in 2023, during which the firm supported the brand’s expansion through leadership appointments, increased investment in science and R&D, manufacturing, digital capabilities and AI-powered consumer tools. Thorne, which specialises in vitamins, minerals and supplements, also strengthened its practitioner relationships and developed a proprietary AI wellness advisor during the partnership. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions.
THE WHY? The acquisition underscores growing investment in the science-backed wellness sector as major consumer goods companies seek to capitalise on rising demand for preventative health, personalised nutrition and clinically supported supplements.
